It is conventional wisdom to think that Spring is the best season to buy or sell a home. After all, it get's warmer out and it is easier to move without the hassle of snow and ice. But what comes with the Spring season also makes it harder to find or sell a home. Spring brings an increased amount of buyers and sellers. Yes, Spring is typically the busiest time of year for real estate. But it comes with some additional struggles you need to be aware of. An increased amount of buyers often means fighting to get offers approved. This in turn drives up the prices for listed homes. Not to mention the urgency needed to lock in your next dream home with a little less preparation.
Taking advantage of the colder months could work to your advantage. Less inventory? Sure. But having less buyers means you have the upper hand. This could also mean getting a better deal and saving thousands on your next home. Sure there is a little more work in terms of moving in the winter. Ultimately, the best time to buy or sell real estate is not up to the seasons. The best time to make the move is based on your own situation. Is it the best time for you? Is it the best time for your finances? Family? Career? and etc. - Jason Gelios
